Life has changed a lot this year. Whereas I thought, at the beginning of the year, my life would lead me towards (as everyone expected) a technical arts school, and then into the animator/illustrator's chair at Pixar, it has, instead, led me to this conclusion:

I'm going to stop CoSA.
I'm going to get involved with NJROTC.
I'm going to become a Cadet Ensign.
I'm going to graduate top class.
I'm going to go to college.
I'm going to join the Navy.
I'm going to learn Farsi and German.
I'm going to join Navy Intelligence.
I'm going to keep drawing.

The MotherLord is okay with this, but is pressuring me to talk to all the people she can find who know even the SLIGHTEST BIT about the Naval Academy. It's annoying. But this is basically my life at bullet point.

For those of you who pay attention, *Kaylink recently informed me that a piece of my artwork was ripped. After several frantic days, I convinced the ripper to remove the artwork.

I am still very upset about this incident. Not only did the ripper (who shall remain anonymous, unless you go and find her, but you never will) claim that she had created the piece herself, she also refused- and still refuses- not to answer my comments or notes.

PLEASE. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. REFERENCED PICTURES = CREDIT THE ORIGINAL OWNER!!!

As I told the ripper, here are some basic tips for referencing pictures:

The idea of referencing a picture is to use it as a guideline for your own, original piece of artwork. Ripping a piece of art (ie, copying, pasting and editing the original art) is stealing and is punishable by law. It is also very insulting and frusturating for the original artist.

Note the person for permission to reference their picture.

If the original artist/owner of the art you want to reference DOES NOT GIVE THEIR PERMISSION, LEAVE IT. Simply back off. They're not going to change their minds. It's their art to do with as they please.

Free lineart is a great way to reference poses. Just be careful not to erase the copyright on the picture, and read the original artist's rules for the rules regarding their art.

As of yesterday, I am the winner of the 53rd District Congressional Art Competition. [link] Here is a tidbit of what the competition was/is:

“Celebrating Unity Among Diversity” Each year, Members of Congress hold contests within their districts to choose winning pieces of art by high school students to be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC. The winning student will be invited to Washington, DC for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and will have his or her artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel for one year.

Epic, right? I totally thought my mother was lying... I will submit a /bad/ picture of the piece I presented.
